A Local Alternative to CloudConvert, Convertio, and Zamzar for Ami Pro Files

What those three actually are

CloudConvert, Convertio, and Zamzar are web converters. You send a file to their servers. They convert it. You download the result. CloudConvert says the files are processed by machine and deleted within 24 hours. Convertio and Zamzar also convert on their servers. Zamzar, one of the older names in this category, will email you a download link if you give them an address. Paid Zamzar plans also keep converted files in online storage.

That model is convenient when the file is already a PDF, an MP4, or a single modern document you need in another common format. It is a poor fit for a box of Ami Pro correspondence, a Samna archive, or a shared drive from the mid-1990s.

The legacy Ami Pro folder is not one upload

A legacy Ami Pro archive is rarely one file. It is a folder: .sam letters next to companion .STY style sheets, nested directories, uppercase extensions, and documents nobody has opened since Windows 98. You do not want to pick twenty files, watch a credit counter, and hope the free daily cap holds.

CloudConvert's free plan is 10 conversions a day and 1 GB per file. Convertio's cheapest paid plan is a monthly subscription with a 1 GB cap and a credit allotment. Zamzar's free tier is 2 files per 24 hours; paid starts at $12 a month (Basic), with file-size caps and online storage. Those limits are fine for a one-off. They are the wrong shape for a legacy Ami Pro folder.

This article does not claim CloudConvert, Convertio, or Zamzar support Ami Pro .sam. The question is not what an upload form advertises. The question is whether you want every legacy document to leave the building.

Why legacy .sam files should stay on this PC

Ami Pro and Samna archives hold contracts, case files, personnel letters, board minutes, and unpublished drafts. Sending them to a converter you found in search means a copy exists on a machine you do not own, for some number of hours, under a policy you did not write. Local conversion removes that step. The file goes from .sam to DOCX or PDF on the same disk.
